Halo (morning, mom!)
I send little clips to Halo's mom special for her sometimes like this. The trick to getting them to explore more foods is by making it more baby formula related. This could mean making it a warmer temperature or mushy like the formula (even puree it) or by actually combining it with some formula so that it has that familiar taste!

Construction Update!
The building ended up needing more back fill as well which I forgot to mention in this update. I am hoping to put a type of porch off the side of it as well so I can move the aviaries outside in the nicer months.

With baby birds, they naturally want to test their beak strength on things. This is ok, as long as it's the right things! Providing a variety of toys from the start is super important so they are open to all sorts of colors and textures to try with. Getting Halo to play with toys while I was present was a whole other feat, lol...

Harness training was a big deal to Kim for her macaw Halo. Harness training is easiest when birds are young so its just a way of life. Its a great method for being able to take your bird on outside walks with you and get it used to the noises and breezes and all the things.

Safely desensitizing your young birds to the outdoors is awesome to do early on because then when they do get out (even if accidentally) they won't be overwhelmed with one hundred "first" experiences at once.
Tasty Tuesday (A batch and a half!)
Normally I double my recipe in my cookbook for my seasonal feeding system... sometimes even triple (whoaaaaa) but this time the store only had enough for me to do a normal batch... and a half. So that's what I did. Also, I realize the timing difference but this was my summer batch for the summer and that's why you see all those beets!I'd love to see how much your batches make! I'm feeding a lot of beaks so each bag gives me about 3 days tops feeding my birds.

Halo (bath time!)
When you bathe your bird early on in their lives, they will like it... it's natural for young birds to enjoy it because its in their instincts to bathe! The hard part is making sure throughout their life water is never used as punishment or made to be unenjoyable, and it's important to bathe often enough.
