Spell X Sword Page 13 High Res
A second character? This comic's jumped the shark already.Gonna be spending a lot of this next week doing anything other than looking at the news and/or internet, so I'm not expecting to get a new page done for next Friday. (please vote, americans)
Spell X Sword Page 12 High Res
Backup Plan: basilisk snacks.I'm aiming for a page a week, currently, so expect another next Friday! (Edit 11/1: Or Saturday! Time makes fools of us all)
Spell X Sword Page 11 High Res
It's "just" a creature with sharp teeth, stony skin, and an apparently impressive leap.
Spell X Sword Page 10 High Res
I can draw again! (And I swear I'm going settle on a title for this comic soon)Expect another page next week!
Pause and Update
Hey hey!Just a quick update to say that I'm recovering well, but still need a little more time before I can spend hours with my arms up to my tablet and drawing. So as I said might happen in my last update, I'm going to pause the Patreon for the end of the month, and resume it next month when I can actually post stuff for you all.(Surgery went well, I do in fact have boobs now. It's pretty great, even if they are still a bit sore.)
Spell X Sword Page 9 High Res
Hey gang! I wanted to have more pages to share with you today, but I've been busier this month than I previously anticipated. I have three more pages scripted, laid out, and penciled, as I've been trying out working in batches. But I'm not sure when I'll be able to get those up because I'm having surgery tomorrow! In like twelve hours! It's a breast augmentation (which I may or may not end up comic-ing about later). I'll be down for at least a few days in just general recovery, and I'm unsure when I'll be reco...
Spell X Sword Pages 1-8 High Res (CW: Blood, Body Horror)
Hey! I'm finally sharing the first pages of my new longform webcomic! It will have a title, but titles are hard and I don't want to leave you all hanging while I try to finally settle on one. It will also have a website at some point, once I pick that title and get a nice chunk of pages done so new readers can know what the comic is about and what it's like.I'm going to work on some more pages this coming month, but after that I will be out of action for a few weeks, drawing-wise. This is because at the end of August I'll be ...
A Terrible Comic and an Update
Hey gang,Wishing everyone a happy pride month right here at the buzzer! As everyone already knows and has known for years, June 24th is Make A Terrible Comic Day. For which I created this terrible comic. In other news, the comics anthology I contributed to, Transphoria, finished its Kickstarter campaign a couple days ago, after a very successful run! It raised over eighty thousand dollars, and will be going off to the printers soon. (You can still pledge, by the way! Looks like there’s a “Late Pledge” option now) I’ll share any other time...
Of Most Excellent Fancy
I did not dramatize this conversation at all, we are both just like this.I posted about it earlier, but I'm not going to shut up about this all month so here we go again:I'm in a book! I wrote and illustrated a story for a trans comics anthology, Transphoria, which is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter! Back it now and get a copy! As of this post we're already over halfway to our goal after only a few hours, so this book is definitely happening, and I am so so excited.
I'm In A Book! You Can Back It On Kickstarter!
Hey gang! I'll be posting a new comic tonight/tomorrow, but first exciting news:I've written and drawn a story for a comics anthology, and it's going to be printed! On paper?!The book is called Transphoria, and it's a collection of stories of trans joy and euphoria, by a big team of trans and queer creators. I'm really excited to be a part of this! The crowdfund for the initial print run is live now, and you can back it to get a copy along with a host of fun extras, including add-ons for other great queer anthologies by the s...
The Waiting Game
I've been feeling this to some degree or another for over a year now, and it's been especially prevalent the past few months. Which, if you can imagine, makes writing and drawing a comic about it feel pretty shitty. It's better now that it's done, but I kind of reallyhated making this for a while there in the middle. To really drive the point home to me, I finally had a consult last week for a fairly simple outpatient procedure. Afterward, they said they would contact me soon about scheduling the actual surgery, which looks to be...
Poor Akari
There is no escaping Arceus' plans to make you a protagonist.Yes, I'm excited for the new Pokemon Legends game, in spite of the trailer having no gameplay, and Game Freak's poor track record of late.(I am working on other comics, but I am contractually obligated not to share anything from these particular pages until later this year. In the meantime, have a pokemon shitpost)
Dealing With It
Don't take the final panels as some sweeping statement about how I think of or address my past self. I'll still think of young me as a guy sometimes, especially when it's funny. But when I think about how I dealt with my feelings, how long I kept everything I felt about my body and identity pushed down out of fear or denial, I try to be kind and think of the one doing that as a scared and confused girl who had so many things working against her, from inside and outside of herself.I've tried to tackle this particular comic idea a...
A Little Art Dump
Hey gang,I'm working on my next comic, actually one I've taken a couple of stabs at before scrapping it, but I think I cracked it this time. It's a little long though, and I'll be traveling for the holidays. I'll have a tablet with me, and I'll try to get it finished before the month (and year) is out.But in case I don't manage it, enjoy a collection of various arts I've done but not shared here. A lot of these are artgame entries for the Sleepless Domain discord, and a few are dumb ideas I could not resist drawi...
"Some Reason"
Saotome School Secret Technique: Dense As A Brick!Ranma is a fun show (though pretty dated), and there are lots of reasons someone could enjoy it or binge it.But I know why I did much better now than I did at the time.
Cleaning Up Around Here
Hey gang,So I finally made good on this post and fixed my name on all ~800 comics on the Experience Boost site. That was an ordeal. (I know batch processing is a thing, but the latter two thirds of XP Boost was done in Clip Studio Paint, and its automate action and batch processing features leave a lot to be desired.)I've also updated all the bonus strips here on Patreon. While doing so I noticed that some of the older posts have had their image quality absolutely eaten at some point, so now the first few bonus strips are also readable agai...
The Burned One
Basically, electrolysis hurts, and I like Dark Souls.I am actually seeing results from the electrolysis, so it is actually a cycle that will end, but in the meantime, ouch ow goddamn FUCK OW.In more pleasant news, apart from our basement issues (which should be all fixed up next week, finally), we're really liking Philly. In the past month we've gone to shows, hung out with friends, attended a bonus queer pride weekend, and gone to a Halloween craft fair in a giant cemetery. It's a cool city.
I Just Don't Think That's Going To Happen
So as you know from my last post, I moved recently. That was always going to end up being at least one comic. I wrote and started layouts on another moving comic that was more broadly about the entire moving situation, and a bit (darkly?) funny, but I scrapped it. I may go back and finish it, but this one ended up feeling more honest, so I did it first.(I also would have had this done sooner, but a couple of weeks ago our new basement flooded, and I've been wrestling with plumbers, insurance, and contractors. s'always something.)
7/8 Update (I yet live!)
Greeting from our new (and very empty) place!Since my last post, we packed our entire lives up and moved a thousand miles to Philadelphia, where they haven’t passed any laws making our existence or healthcare illegal. It’s already been nice, and will be better for us in the long term, but the whole process has also been kind of A Lot. I’m writing this from the mobile app because we’re sitting on an air mattress in our empty home waiting for the truck with our stuff to arrive and our internet to be hooked up.We’ve still got a lot of unp...
Update 3/31/23
Hey gang,Sorry for the radio silence recently, but it's been a real month. The same day I posted my previous comic, my state passed multiple anti-trans laws, with more surely on the way. My spouse and I have been talking about the political/social climate here for a while, and this was the last straw; we're moving somewhere safer. While being somewhere else will be a good thing in the long run, it's also been very difficult, even in these early steps. I've been struggling to find motivation to do much of anything, much less make c...
Clarification
This was pretty embarrassing, but only me and the lady on the phone know about it, so I should be fine.
For Your Consideration
They eventually played me off when I started individually thanking each member of my college improv troupe.Featuring a guest appearance from Generic Family Member Because I'm Not Picking A Fight With Anyone In Particular.
Seizing the Opportunity
You ever feel like your whole life came together to coalesce into one perfect moment?(and yes I did repay his kindness in bringing us lunch during my recovery by slamming him with a once in a lifetime joke)
Little Update 11/29
Hey gang, sorry about the lack of updates here. Between getting sick, finally having the surgery I alluded to before, and then getting sick again while recovering from surgery, I've been spending a lot of time on my couch wailing, er, being very brave.I'll be making comics as soon as I am physically able to sit at my desk and do so. Thank you all for your support and patience.
Your Call Is Important To Us
"You are also welcome to use our shitty online chat tool, that we insist is just as good as speaking to a person, even though it can't parse your questions, and does not understand our own obtuse policies about what procedures we will actually cover as part of transition care."Sorry I've been a bit quiet, but even apart from this insurance situation, several other things in the past month have absolutely burst into metaphorical flames, and I've been running around putting out fires.I think this insurance situation is now res...
Oh yeah, people can read these
Well, well, well. If it isn't the consequences of my own actions. This isn't really a problem, but there is an internal moment of "oh god" every time I realize that a friend's first interaction with me in nearly a decade is them reading and liking the really personal stuff I put into my comics.
I Dunno, You Feeling Tacos?
Alternate Title: This Is A Joke, My Spouse Is Amazing And I Love Them Very MuchI can still make comics!Sorry about the lack of updates, it's been a rough few weeks over here, but things are shaping up enough that I can make jokey jokes, which is nice.
Up And At 'Em
Technically the very existence of this comic represents a small victory over the problem it represents, so I got that going for me.I tend to focus my comics on the positive (even if not always easy) parts of my trans experience. And the truth is, my transition is great! Every thing I've done for myself has been good for me.But that's not the whole story. There's lots of external forces pressing in on my life as a result of me being trans, and they make many things a lot harder. I have no regrets, and no plans to go backwards, but it...
Mirrors
WHEN WILL MY REFLECTION SHOWWWWWWWMy relationship with mirrors has been a real rollercoaster over the past year and half or so. Don't get me wrong, I can still absolutely rip my reflection to metaphorical shreds on a bad day. But more often I find myself passing by the mirror and liking what I see more than I ever have before. We're in a better place now, me and reflective surfaces. Not gonna lie, feels weird to be posting something this positive with current events as they are. But I had this fully inked and flatted last night before tod...
Night-night
I'm really good at therapy, gang.I mean, how much do I have to worry about these days, anyway? Everything is cool and good and fine!
